What Floor & Roof Engine does
Floor & Roof Engine creates horizontal slabs and sloped roof shells from closed wall boundaries or user-drawn outlines. It can produce flat floors, pitched roofs, hip roofs, and tray slabs, with optional overhangs, edge offsets, and integrated beams. The result is a watertight surface placed at the correct level.
Workflow
- Choose the element type: Floor Slab or Roof Shell.
- Select a closed wall loop or click the corners of a boundary in the viewport.
- Set the top or bottom level, slab thickness, and any overhang or edge offset.
- For roofs, define the slope direction and pitch; for floors, set the finish level and click Generate.
Dialog controls
Element type - switch between floor slab, flat roof, pitched roof, and hip roof presets.
Level and thickness - enter the top-of-slab level and structural thickness separately.
Overhang and edge offset - extend the slab beyond the wall line or recess it for a clean fascia.
Beam integration - automatically generate perimeter and intermediate beams bound to the slab edges.
Tips
Make sure walls form a closed boundary; the engine highlights gaps before generating so you can fix them first.
Use the slope arrow to control drainage direction on flat roofs.
Generated slabs are placed on the Slab or Roof layer and can carry materials for rendering and quantity takeoff.
