What Draw Door does
Draw Door is an interactive placement tool for door openings and detailed door assemblies. Pick a point on a wall and the tool cuts the opening, then builds a matching door leaf, frame, and hardware on the Doors layer. It also supports curved walls and multi-leaf host walls.
Door Library dialog
When the tool activates it opens a non-modal Door Library dialog so you can keep it open while working in the model. Choose a door category and configure parameters in real time.
The live preview updates as you change values, so you can see the resulting dimensions and style before clicking on a wall.
Door categories
Panel Door - traditional door with rails and stiles. Adjustable stile, top rail, lock rail, and bottom rail sizes.
- Flush Door - flat panel door without rails or stiles.
- Glazed Door - panel door with glass inserts and the same rail/stile controls.
- Indian Teak Door - raised-panel teak door with optional upper jaali (MS grill) detail.
- UPVC Sliding Multi-Panel - 2/3/4 panel sliding system with overall dimensions in millimetres.
- UPVC Parametric - parametric two-panel sliding system with custom frame and sash profiles, glass tint, and handle finish.
Placing a door
Set the width and height, frame depth, shutter thickness, wood finish, swing direction, and open angle in the dialog. Hover over any wall face and click to place the door.
The tool casts a ray from the cursor, finds the host wall group, and positions the door on the clicked face. It automatically calculates the correct orientation so the door opens into or out of the room based on your swing setting.
For planar walls the opening is cut with OpeningCutter. For curved walls the tool uses boolean subtraction to preserve the curved geometry.
Placement position
Center in Wall - the frame is centered on the wall thickness. This is the default.
Flush with Outer Face - the frame aligns with the outside face of the wall.
Flush with Inner Face - the frame aligns with the inside face of the wall.
You can switch placement at any time from the dialog; the change applies to the next door you place.
UPVC sliding systems
Both UPVC categories accept overall width and height in millimetres. Choose panel configuration, opening state (Closed, Half Open, Fully Open), frame finish, glass tint, and handle finish.
The tool builds the chassis, tracks, sashes, glass, and hardware as a single system group and places it in the wall opening.
Workflow tips
Use the unit toggle in the dialog top bar to switch between millimetres and inches for dimension fields.
Close the dialog at any time - it is non-modal and will not cancel your in-progress placement.
The generated door group is tagged with Xpress3D attributes (type, width, height, style, target wall PID), making it easy to select or schedule later.
If you click outside a wall group, the tool beeps and asks you to click on a wall group or component.
