Draw Gate Tool

Place parametric gates in SketchUp walls - Indian, classic, modern, contemporary, or sleek styles, hinged or sliding.

1

Open tool

Launch Draw Gate from the LizArk toolbar.

2

Configure gate

Pick a style, size, and operation in the Gate dialog.

3

Place

Click on a wall face to cut the opening and insert the gate.

What Draw Gate does

Draw Gate creates a wall opening and a matching parametric gate assembly using the same placement pipeline as Draw Door. It supports compound walls and ordinary planar walls, and it can produce hinged double-leaf gates or single-leaf sliding gates with realistic geometry, materials, and swing or slide offsets.

Size templates

  • Single - 6′-0" wide
  • Double - 8′-0" wide
  • Wide - 10′-0" wide
  • XL - 12′-0" wide

Gate dialog controls

The tool opens the Parametric Gate Generator dialog when activated. All dimensions are entered in millimetres.

  • Design Style - Indian, Classic, Modern Minimalist, Contemporary Wood & Iron, or Modern Sleek Double Gate.
  • Width and Height - overall gate size.
  • Ground Clearance - gap between the bottom of the gate and the floor.
  • Arch Height - top arch rise for Indian, Classic, and Contemporary styles.
  • Operation - Hinged (double leaf) or Sliding (single leaf).
  • Swing Direction - Outward or Inward (hinged gates).
  • Open Angle - how far the gate is shown open; 0° is fully closed.
  • Slide Open Percent - for sliding gates, how much of the opening is open.

Parametric styles

  • Indian - vertical bars with spear tips, gold medallion, and optional upper jaali detail.
  • Classic - vertical pickets with top and middle rails accented by gold rings.
  • Modern Minimalist - horizontal wood slats with a vertical metal accent strip.
  • Contemporary Wood & Iron - metal pickets in the lower half and solid wood panels in the upper half with a gold medallion.
  • Modern Sleek Double Gate - the newest clean double-gate design.

Placing a gate

Hover over a wall face to see the preview. Click anywhere on the wall to place the gate at that point. The tool finds the host wall group, projects the click point onto the face plane, and cuts a matching opening. For compound walls it uses the full wall height for the cut.

If the parametric gate cannot be built for the selected host, the tool falls back to the standard generator so you still get a usable opening and leaf.

Materials

The generated gate uses four preset materials: dark metal for the frame and pickets, gold for ornaments and medallions, wood for solid panels, and light metal for handles and stand-offs. These materials are created automatically in the model if they do not already exist.
