What Draw Panel does
Draw Panel creates glazed panels that look and behave like windows. You can place them on existing walls or use Free mode to attach a panel to any face or click point. The Panel Designer dialog gives full control over pane count, sash size, glass thickness, materials, and how the frame sits in the wall thickness.
Panel templates
- Single Pane - 24" x 36"
- Double Pane - 36" x 48"
- Triple Pane - 48" x 48"
- Bay Small - 60" x 48" (2x2 grid)
- Bay Large - 72" x 60" (2x3 grid)
- Sliding - 48" x 48"
- Curtain 4x8 - 96" x 96"
- Curtain 6x6 - 72" x 72"
Panel Designer dialog
- Templates grid - pick a starting layout; width, height, rows, and cols update automatically.
- Dimensions - width, height, sill offset, sash thickness, glass thickness, pane reveal gap, frame depth, pane inset.
- Placement - Level to Face, Middle, or Level to Back Surface.
- Free Mode - when enabled, the panel is placed at the click point without requiring a host wall.
- Grid - rows and columns (up to 24 each) and panel type (Fixed, Casement, Sliding).
- Materials - frame and glass colors, SketchUp material names, or image textures.
Free Mode
Enable Free Mode in the Panel Designer to skip the wall-host requirement. In this mode the panel is generated at the clicked point and oriented using the camera direction or the picked face normal. You can also nudge the panel vertically with the Up/Down arrow keys before placing it.
Generate from selection
In the Panel Designer, click Generate from Selection to convert a selected face - or edges that belong to a face - into a panel using the current settings. This is useful when you already have a rough opening drawn and want to fill it with a formatted panel.
Workflow tips
Use the live SVG preview in the dialog to see how rows, columns, and sash thickness affect the panel before you place it.
Browse for frame or glass textures if you want realistic finishes instead of solid colors.
Save the dialog to persist your settings for the next panel; Cancel closes without saving.
