What Draw Railing does
Draw Railing creates balustrades by tracing a polyline path. Click points to define corners and runs, then finish the path to generate posts, top rails, and infill as a SketchUp component instance.
Railing templates
- Standard - 42" high, 48" post spacing, picket infill
- Modern Glass - 36" high, 36" post spacing, glass panels
- Cable Railing - 42" high, 48" post spacing, cable runs
- Decorative - 48" high, 36" post spacing, picket infill
- Glass 4x4 - 48" high, 48" post spacing
- Glass 6x6 - 48" high, 72" post spacing
Workflow
- Click to add each path point. A live preview updates after two or more points.
- Press Enter to finish and generate the railing component.
- Double-click to finish and generate immediately.
- Press Esc to cancel without creating geometry.
Generated parts
RailingGenerator builds posts at the configured spacing, a top rail sized to your rail width and height, and infill based on the selected baluster style. The result is stored as a component definition so it can be reused and edited as a single instance.
