Draw Roof Tool

Generate flat, pitched, hip, or US-standard roofs from wall groups or closed boundaries.

1

Select target

Select wall groups or a closed boundary first.

2

Open tool

Launch Draw Roof to open the Roof Builder dialog.

3

Build roof

Choose type, set pitch/overhang, then press Build Roof.

What Draw Roof does

Draw Roof turns selected wall groups or a closed boundary into a roof. The Roof Builder dialog lets you choose the roof type and parameters; pressing Build Roof runs the FloorRoofEngine to create the geometry.

Roof types

  • Flat Roof - simple slab with optional parapet wall.
  • Pitched / Gable - sloped roof with custom pitch and overhang.
  • Hip Roof - pyramid-style roof sloping to all walls.
  • US Standard Pitched - preset 6/12 pitch and 12" overhang.

Parameters

  • Thickness - roof slab thickness.
  • Pitch - rise per 12" run (hidden for flat roofs).
  • Overhang - eave projection (hidden for flat roofs).
  • Ridge Direction - Auto, Along X, or Along Y.
  • Parapet - enable, height, and thickness (flat roofs only).

Workflow

Before opening the tool, select the wall groups you want to roof or draw a closed boundary shape. Then activate Draw Roof, configure the settings in the Roof Builder dialog, and click Build Roof. If no valid target is selected, the tool warns you and prompts you to select walls first.
