What Finish Brush does
Finish Brush turns finishing into a dedicated model workflow. Hover a finishable wall or structural surface, review the orange face highlight, then click to apply or remove plaster or paint.
The brush can expand from a picked face to connected eligible surfaces. This makes it practical for continuous room or facade runs while keeping the action visually controlled.
Plaster is measured geometry
Plaster is generated as a separate shell with real thickness. Adjacent segments are mitered and merged where possible, while doors and windows are cut through the finish layer.
Choose interior or exterior intent, thickness, material, texture, color, opacity, side, offset mode, corner style, and opening edge treatment in Settings.
Paint remains a separate layer
Paint changes visible face materials without adding thickness. If matching plaster exists, paint is applied to the plaster shell. Otherwise it is applied to the eligible source faces.
Removing paint restores the plaster material below it when available, so finish stages do not need to be flattened into one irreversible material edit.
BIM-like, with a clear boundary
LizArk stores finish intent on the model: plaster or paint, interior or exterior, material, thickness, opacity, side, visibility, lock state, and the relationship to its source wall or structural object.
That is BIM-like because the finish remains identifiable, queryable, and updateable. It is not a claim that SketchUp becomes a full BIM authoring, scheduling, clash detection, or exchange platform.
A safe finish workflow
- Stabilize walls, openings, slabs, and structure first.
- Configure plaster and paint in Settings, including Preserve Openings.
- Open Finish Brush and choose Apply Plaster or Apply Paint.
- Press I to choose interior or exterior, then click highlighted surfaces.
- Use remove modes or Ctrl plus click when a finish needs to be cleared.
- Enable automatic interior detection and refresh only when the project benefits from managed updates.
