What Trace Door does

Trace Door drops a 2D door marker onto a traced plan. The marker is just a labeled line across a wall pair, written to the trace_doors layer with a 'trace_door' selection role. During Generate 3D, LizArk reads the marker and creates the matching 3D door opening and assembly.

It inherits all input, snapping, and template behavior from Trace Opening Base.

Door template widths

  • Template 1 - 30"
  • Template 2 - 36"
  • Template 3 - 42"
  • Template 4 - 60"

Custom widths

Type any positive length into the VCB to override the current width. The last value you enter is saved under the door_width_default config key and becomes the starting width the next time you launch the tool.

The tool preview is drawn with an orange fill and edge color so door markers stand out from window, gate, and ventilator markers.

Placing the marker

Hover over a wall pair on the traced plan. The preview rectangle shows exactly where the marker will land and how deep the wall is at that location.

Click to place a center line across the wall pair and a text label such as D30 or D36.

If the cursor is too far from a wall, the status bar reports the nearest distance and reminds you to click closer to the traced wall line.

After tracing

Door markers do not create 3D geometry on their own. Use the LizArk Generate workflow to convert all trace markers into real openings and library doors.

Keep door markers on the trace_doors layer. If a marker is accidentally moved to another layer, Generate 3D may skip it.
