Tracing Tools

Mark a traced 2D plan with opening indicators. Trace tools place lightweight markers that LizArk converts into real 3D doors, windows, gates, and ventilators during generation.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about LizArk tracing tools.

What are tracing tools used for?

Tracing tools let you mark door, window, gate, and ventilator positions on a 2D imported plan. The markers are later picked up by LizArk's Generate 3D workflow to cut openings at the correct locations.

Do I need to prepare the drawing before tracing?

Yes. Walls must be available as edges on a trace wall layer or tagged with the Xpress3D trace_wall selection role. Use Trace Wall first, or move/draw wall edges onto the trace walls layer.

When should I use Trace Door instead of Draw Door?

Use Trace Door when you already imported a 2D plan and want to drop markers quickly. Use Draw Door for direct 3D placement on existing SketchUp walls.
