What Trace Gate does
Trace Gate marks gate locations on a 2D traced boundary or compound wall. The resulting marker line and label (for example G96 or G120) are tagged with the 'trace_gate' selection role and placed on the trace_gates layer. Later, Generate 3D converts the marker into a gate opening and parametric gate assembly.
It uses the same wall-pair snapping and template controls as all other opening tracers.

- Template 1 - 72"
- Template 2 - 96"
- Template 3 - 120"
- Template 4 - 144"
Custom widths
Type any positive length into the VCB to set a non-standard gate width. The value is saved under gate_width_default and restored the next time the tool starts.
The marker uses an orange/yellow fill color to distinguish gates from doors.
Placing the marker
Hover over the boundary wall pair where the gate is needed. The preview snap works best when the wall edges are parallel and within the maximum pair gap.
Click to create the center line and label. The label uses the G prefix followed by the rounded width.
If the wall span is shorter than the chosen width, the marker will still be placed, but you should verify the opening during 3D generation.
After tracing
Gate markers are processed during Generate 3D. Make sure they stay on the trace_gates layer and are not exploded or regrouped.
For best results, ensure the boundary wall is tagged as a trace wall or drawn on the Xpress3D-TraceWalls layer.
