What Trace Ventilator does
Trace Ventilator marks ventilator positions on a traced 2D plan. Like Trace Window, it produces a center line, a text label such as V18 or V24, and a 2D opening symbol on the Xpress3D-TraceOpeningSymbols layer. The marker is tagged 'trace_ventilator' and assigned to the trace_vents layer.
The tool inherits wall-pair snapping, width input, and templates from Trace Opening Base.
Ventilator template widths
- Template 1 - 18"
- Template 2 - 24"
- Template 3 - 30"
- Template 4 - 36"
Custom widths
Type a positive length into the VCB to set a custom ventilator width. The value is saved under ventilator_width for the next session.
The preview is drawn in a teal fill color so ventilator markers are easy to spot.
Placing the marker
Hover between two parallel wall edges. The preview shows the marker aligned to the wall pair.
Click to place the center line, label, and opening symbol. The generated symbol helps you identify ventilators at a glance while reviewing the trace plan.
If the wall pair is not detected, the status bar reports the distance and number of trace wall edges found nearby.
After tracing
Ventilator markers are converted to real openings and library ventilators during Generate 3D.
Do not delete the text label or the center line on the trace_vents layer. Those entities carry the attributes the generator needs.
